I just started a new cozy mystery series (See previous post to find out what this is!) called “A Cheese Shop Mystery.” The first book is called “The Long Quiche Goodbye.” The book features a cheese shop in Ohio called Fromagerie Bessette. Charlotte and her cousin Matthew recently acquired the shop from their grandfather and are attempting to modernize it. Not long after a special sampling party, Charlotte finds a prominent member of the community murdered with her olive-wood handled knife! Charlotte decides to take matters in her own hands to figure out who the real killer is.
It took me a while to finish this book. I felt it was dragging quite a bit, but finally got exciting! I went back and forth between saying “oh I know who the killer is…nope just kidding I don’t!” At the end I was a little shocked to discover the murderer! Now I LOVE culinary cozies, but this one seemed forced. Charlotte and her family LITERALLY ate a form of cheese for every meal. I don’t know if the author was just trying to name-drop every brand of cheese or what. All in all, I did enjoy it!
