A Match Made in Texas is a collection of 4 historical romances, all linked together but still standing alone. The 4 novellas are: A Cowboy Unmatched, An Unforeseen Match, No Match for Love, and Meeting Her Match.

The first novella was probably my favorite. It is about a cowboy named Neill and a young widow named Clara. Clara is pregnant and in need of a man’s help around her ranch. An anonymous person made a way for Neill to come to Clara’s ranch and work for her. She has tried to shut out everyone because of how badly she was treated by her late husband and father-in-law, but finds herself falling for the sweet, gentle, hardworking Neill…

In the second novella we meet Grace, a young, former school teacher who is going blind. Her community and friends are taking care of her as much as they can, but she wishes she had a husband. Clayton shows up at her house, brought there by an ad in the newspaper. Grace is headstrong and somewhat stubborn, but also very delicate and sensitive about her failing eyesight. Clayton not only makes repairs on the home and land but he helps Grace come to terms with doing things on her own with poor sight.

The third is about Lucy and Andrew. Lucy has no family and is desperate for God to make a change in her life. When a sudden opportunity arises to be a caretaker, she immediately leaves town to care for Andrew’s aunt Martha. Once there it becomes clear Martha feels she doesn’t need anyone to look after her, but warms up to Lucy, as does Andrew…

The last novella ties the other three together and reveals the identity of the mysterious matchmaker. That matchmaker finally gets a happy ending for herself as well. I liked this novella the least because I felt the romance didn’t really get to blossom like it did in the other three, but it was still a sweet story.

I felt all of these novellas worked together perfectly. I thought they were very sweet romances that were lighthearted but still contained enough real life problems to make them believable. I also enjoyed the unwavering faith of all the characters.
