Book Review: One More Lie by Amy Lloyd-4 Stars

One More Lie is a frightening psychological and criminal suspense novel that alternates between the childhood and adult lives of Sean and “Charlotte”, while focusing on a heinous crime neither can escape from.

The story starts out with a chilling newspaper headline: EVIL DUO RELEASED FROM PRISON. Now, if that didn’t catch your attention, what will?! The duo has been released, given new identities and even cosmetic surgery to help them integrate back in to society after being imprisoned for years.

As children, Sean and Charlotte (her new name after being released) were friends. Dealt with tricky home situations and coupled with the need for adventure causing them to always get in trouble, it was a rocky relationship to say the least.

One day something so terrible happens to a disabled classmate that Sean and Charlotte are both tried for the crime and sent to prison at only ten years old. Charlotte has tried to repress all the memories of that day and can’t remember what really happened. Once released from prison, she has a hard time integrating back into the real world and it doesn’t help that Sean, and memories from the past, keep worming their way in to her mind.

Sean and Charlotte were terrible, sadistic children. Did those traits follow them in to adulthood? What really happened that tragic day, who is ultimately responsible?

One More Lie will have you questioning just how evil a child can be, and if certain behaviors stay with a person for all of their life. This book was chilling and kept me on my toes almost the entire time I was reading, and the ending left me sitting here with my mouth wide open in shock! If you enjoy reading criminal thrillers and suspense don’t miss out on this one; it releases May 28th!
