Colourpop “Sweet Talk” Makeup Look

Recently I made a Colourpop order with some birthday money and was dying to create a springy, peachy look using some of the things I got! For this look I used the “Sweet Talk” Palette and Pressed Glitter in the shade “Hungry Ghost” on my eyes.

I used “Work It” for my crease/transition shade,  “ICYMI” and “West Side” on the outer corner and lower lash line, & “Catch Me” to highlight the brow bone, all from the “Sweet Talk” palette. I applied NYX Glitter Primer and then patted on “Hungry Ghost.”

To keep with my peachy theme I used “Luminoso” baked blush from Milani and Buxom Full on Lip Polish in the shade “Sandy.”

I love how this look came out, and I love the fact almost all of the products I used are affordable. Colourpop makes beautiful products and I just had to get several things from their recent Spring collection.

Have you tried Colourpop? Let me know what you think in the comments!

BoxyVibes: April Boxycharm Review!

I love getting Boxycharm every month! This month was a really vibrant, fun, festival themed box. I don’t go to music festivals but you better believe I’ll be wearing all these fun vibrant colors when I take my toddler to the library! 😉

Brushes are something every makeup lover can’t get enough of, at least for me, so it’s great getting them from Boxycharm as opposed to buying them separately. Luxie Beauty brushes are great quality and really cute! This “Summer Daze” set comes with the #209 Large Shader, #245 Small Shader, and #512 Small Contouring brush and retails for $28.

Eyeshadow palettes are my weakness. Look how beautiful and summery this PUR Festival Pressed Pigment Palette looks!

This palette contains twelve shadows: mattes, shimmers, and pressed glitter pigments that are all gorgeous.

I like how there are some neutral tones, like the matte browns and shimmery coppers, but there’s also bright pops of color and of course, the pressed glitters, to create a bolder look! This palette retails for $36.

Next up is a lipstick from Kristofer Buckle. This is the shade “Bardot,” a beautiful nude/mauve shade that pulls a little brown on me but I LOVE it. It’s creamy and doesn’t dry my lips out. It’s a great go-to lipstick for when you need to look pulled together. It retails for $18.

I also received a Starlooks Ultra Gem Longwear Eye Pencil in the shade “Celestial.” This is really pretty and a fun way to add a pop of color to a look. It retails for $19.

The last item I received, and the only item in the box I don’t like, is the Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder in the shade “Summer Haze.”  I did not swatch this product as I will probably give it away, but it’s a loose golden toned highlighter. I prefer pressed powder highlighters so I will not use this one. It retails for $27.

Boxycharm costs only $21 a month and you received 4-5 full size products each month. The overall value for my April box is $128! This is a great value and I will use and enjoy every product except for the loose highlighter.

Beauty Review: VIIcode Skincare-Oxygen Eye Mask

VIIcode (pronounced ‘vee too code’) is a skincare company that focuses solely on eye products. I have been trying out these Oxygen Eye Masks for a couple weeks now and wanted to share my thoughts!

These are meant to be worn while you’re sleeping, for up to eight hours, which is perfect for a busy mom like me! I do enjoy wearing eye masks during the day but running around chasing a toddler it’s just not practical to wear them and get the most benefits from them during the day.

The first time I tried these I was recovering from the flu and thought it was a prime opportunity to see how they work. They are super easy to apply, feel lightweight, stay in place, and are comfortable to sleep in. I was afraid I would feel them on my face and not be able to sleep but it wasn’t a problem at all. They stayed in the same spot all night even through my tossing and turning! My eyes definitely looked and felt tighter and smoother when I woke up and removed the masks! It’s also such a nice treat to apply these at the end of a busy, hectic day and enjoy how cooling and relaxing they feel.

Before application

Comfy and easy to apply!

After removing the masks

The box comes with enough masks for six treatments for $58 and you can use them three times a week. This is pretty pricey but they do a great job and feel wonderful once you apply them! According to their website, these eye masks claim to instantly refresh the skin, minimize visible signs of aging around the eyes, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and instantly moisturize and soothe under the eye area. I still have a couple packs left to try so I can’t yet attest to the minimizing of aging signs or fine lines but I have noticed that my skin is refreshed and my under eye area has stayed hydrated and smooth for days after using the masks.

Thank you to Elle with VIIcode for sending me these masks to try!

Lime Crime Venus III Palette

Recently I ordered the Lime Crime Venus III Palette when Ulta had them on sale for half price!

I love purple/berry toned eye looks and this palette is simply stunning in person. The color story is so feminine and romantic but you can also make it more dramatic.

Here are the swatches from top to bottom:

  • Beloved
  • Bliss
  • Paradise
  • Ecstasy
  • Rapture
  • Heavenly (applied damp using setting spray)
  • Beam
  • Dreamy

Now for the look!

I used Dreamy as my transition shade, Bliss in the crease, Ecstasy in the outer corner, & Beloved on the lid with Heavenly patted on top (this shade is a pretty sheer, iridescent rose gold that I found works best as a topper.) I used Rapture in the inner corner and on the lower lash line I mixed Bliss and Ecstasy. There isn’t a good matte brow bone highlight shade in this palette so I used Tempera from the Anastasia Modern Renaissance. To complete the look I used the Wet N Wild Rebel Rose creme blush, Chanel Plisse Lumiere de Chanel highlighter, and MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Rouge Lipstick in the shade C211 – Rose Wood.

Overall this is a beautiful palette with plenty of variety to create a lot of different looks. The shimmers and metallic shades are vibrant and sparkly, and the mattes blend wonderfully while still maintaining the pigmentation you see in the pan. I only wish it had a matte or satin cream shade for highlighting the brow bone, but being a makeup lover I have plenty of other shades like that to choose from in another palette.

Do you have this palette? What are your thoughts on Lime Crime shadows? I have two other palettes by this brand and think they are quality across the board!

Palette Swatches and Review: Maybelline Lemonade Craze

Now that the temperature is finally warming up and we are having a lot more sunny days, I thought it would be perfect to showcase this affordable little palette! I purchased mine from Amazon for less than $10 but you can also find it at Target, Walmart, and Ulta. It has a citrusy scent,  I wouldn’t necessarily describe it as “lemonade” smelling, but it is a sweet citrus scent that is nice and not overpowering, and a fun addition to an eyeshadow palette!

I like how this palette offers basic neutrals for an easy eye look, but also fun pops of color that are still easy to work with!

Makeup Look: Featuring New Revlon Putty Powder Eye Beam

Today I’m sharing a look I did using the new Revlon Putty Powder Eye Beam single shadows. These shadows are from the Crystal Aura collection. I have the shade “Mesmerized”, a gorgeous plummy burgundy sparkle! The glitter is intense and I love it!

I paired this single shadow with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette, using “Buon Fresco” and “Warm Taupe” in the crease and I mixed “Love Letter” and “Cypress Umber” lightly in the outer corner.

To complete this look I’m wearing NOTE Cosmetics “Desert Rose” blush and Too Faced “Fruit Cake” lip glaze from their Tutti Frutti Christmas Fruit Cake Holiday kit. I thought the L’Oreal burgundy tinted Voluminous mascara would compliment this shadow nicely! It’s subtle but a fun change from the typical black mascara.

Have you seen these new Revlon shadows? Honestly, I hardly ever stop and look at Revlon, but these caught my eye on the Ulta site so I had to purchase one and I’m glad I did!

Eye Makeup Look: Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry Palette

Today I wanted to share a look I did recently using the ABH Sultry palette!

I love ABH palettes and this one is no exception! I am obsessed with the coral shade “Bloom” and wanted to create my look around that shade.

I used “Birch” as my transition and “Bloom” in the crease. Then I used just a little of “Noir” to darken up the outer corner. Next I applied NYX Glitter Primer and patted “Cyborg” on top of that for extra dimension! Using a glitter primer really helps shimmery shades pop. Lastly, I used “Fresh” to highlight my browbone and “Pearl” for a little inner corner highlight.

To complete the look I decided to wear Urban Decay “Sesso” gloss. This is a great neutral gloss that pairs with any eye look in my opinion. This was a really easy eye look to do, but I love the bright coral pop with the silver shimmer! It is really giving me spring vibes!

Do you have this palette? What do you think of it? Let me know in the comments!

Beauty Review: Empties!

Today I’m sharing some makeup and hair products that I’ve used up recently. I love empties posts because it gives a good indicator of what did and didn’t work out since you’ve used it all up!

For makeup, I really enjoyed the ELF Flawless Finish Foundation. This gave medium but build-able coverage. I have dry, acne prone skin and this did not cling to dry patches nor did it break me out worse. The finish isn’t as luminous as I usually prefer, but it is not fully matte either, so I really like that aspect. It’s super affordable (only $6 at Ulta) and is an all around great foundation. The Urban Decay Primer Potion is my favorite eyeshadow primer of all time. It helps keep my eyeshadow from creasing and makes shadows seem more vibrant. The Tarte Maracuja Oil is one of my favorite skincare products. I apply it at night and it soaks in beautifully to my dry skin without clogging my pores or leaving me greasy feeling. I didn’t like the Julep Length Matters mascara- I love a dramatic, volumizing mascara and this just didn’t give me enough drama in my lashes like I prefer. The Anastasia Clear Brow had great hold, but left my eyebrows feeling too crunchy. I absolutely LOVED The Browgal Instatint brow gel. This has microfibers that add fullness to your brows plus holds them in place all day. This is definitely my new favorite brow product and I will be buying a new one as soon as I use up another brow product I’m currently using. The Sephora Solid Brush Cleaner is really nice for cleaning your brushes and beauty sponges. It comes with a little rubbery scrubber to really get your brushes clean without leaving a film on the bristles. The Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid treatment is fantastic. It really helps with bumps and texture on my skin. It stinks, but does such a good job I force myself to over look that aspect! It is super expensive so I am currently on the search for a dupe, so let me know if you have any ideas!

As for the hair products, there’s only two standouts, and the rest I would not repurchase. The Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco hairspray is great. It has a smooth, strong hold without being crunchy feeling or leaving you looking like you have helmet hair! It also smells nice and you get a decent sized bottle for under $5! I didn’t like the Not Your Mother’s dry shampoo-it smells too strong and it left the flaky white residue that I couldn’t brush through my hair. The Batiste Dry Shampoo-Brilliant Blonde is my favorite dry shampoo ever. It gives volume and soaks up any oil but blends in with my hair and doesn’t leave a flaky white residue. The Hask dry shampoo was decent but I didn’t love it more than the Batiste. The 12 Benefits spray didn’t do anything noticeable. I did like the Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair leave in conditioner but this small bottle didn’t last long and the full size is pricey. It didn’t wow me enough to pay $28 for it.

Current Nighttime Skincare Routine

Today I’m sharing my Nighttime Skincare Routine! The majority of the products stay the same from day to day but occasionally things will change such as eye cream or eye makeup remover, but these products are the ones I’ve been using and loving for the past month!

First I remove my eye makeup with a cotton round and Vaseline. My mom taught me this when I first started wearing makeup and I still do it to this day. It’s gentle on the eye area and removes eyeshadow, liner, and mascara easily. Then I wash my face with the Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads. There is a soft side and a textured side for exfoliating. They remove all of my face makeup and leave my skin clean, glowing, and not too dried out feeling. These smell really nice too!

My next step is eye cream. I have been enjoying the Farmacy Dew it All eye cream for a few months now. It hydrates my eye area without being greasy. Then, I apply the Sunday Riley Lactic Acid treatment on my neck and any face blemishes. It gets rid of bumps and texture on my neck and jaw and is helping with minimizing breakouts on my face. It smells horrible and the scent does linger for a bit after applying it but it works so well I have to overlook that! The full size is super expensive so I’m trying to get the most out of this sample.

To moisturize my dry skin, especially now that we’re deep in to winter, I’m using Ryor- a Czech brand that claims to be a 24 hour moisturizing cream. It contains aloe vera and hyaluronic acid which work great to hydrate my skin without being heavy or greasy feeling.

Then I use my jade roller to smooth over my face and work all of the products in. I’m not sure this does anything but it feels good and I feel fancy! 😉 The last step is one of my favorites-the Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist. This smells like fresh cut roses and it just gives my skin a little extra burst of hydration and it feels refreshing.

I’m going to be 30 in a few months so I’m making sure to take care of my skin as I’m getting older. Some nights if I’m just too tired or busy I always make sure to remove my makeup, even if it’s just with a makeup wipe, and apply eye cream and moisturizer!

What are some of your favorite steps in your nighttime skincare routine? Be on the lookout for my morning routine that I’ll be sharing soon!

Makeup Tutorial: Colourpop Element of Surprise

Hey yall! I finally have another makeup tutorial! For this look I used the Colourpop Element of Surprise Palette.

photo from colourpop.com

For this look I used Labyrinth (second row, last shade) as my transition color, then I went in with Silk Street (first row, third shade) in the crease. I added Blank Canvas (last row, first shade) to the outer corner to deepen. Then I applied NYX Glitter Eyeshadow Primer and patted on Rayon (first row, last shade) on the outer portion of my lid, Subdue (second row, second shade) in the center, and Feels (first row, first shade) on the inner portion of my lid. I also applied Feels to my inner corner for highlight. The lower lashline is a combination of Labyrinth and Silk Street. I absolutely love how this look came out. The duochrome shimmers are gorgeous! Also, this is such an affordable palette at only $16!
